To-Do List

In response to Mack Brown's to-do list, reported by Suzanne Halliburton at the AAS, I decided to pen a couple of items I would like to see on the to-do list for Mack, GD, DollaWill Mu$champion and the rest of the Goof Troop.

1. Pick the right defense: At Texas we run 4-3 defense. Period. Right? For consideration sake, what if we employed a different base defensive package, say 4-2-5? Admittedly, our linebackers are relatively stronger than our DB's this year, so a 4-3 would play up that strength.  The question then is, just because our third LB is better at his position than our fifth DB, how do their pass coverage skills line up and what will be most effective this season in the Big 12?

2. Put the special back in special teams: Last season, Texas blocked an unbelievable zero kicks and punts. I had to look it up in two different places because I didn't believe it either. Gone are the days of Michael Griffin blocking four punts in one season by himself. Mack has long been a proponent of strong special teams, although you wouldn't guess it with his penchant for not recruiting kickers, and that needs to show again. Heck, Texas special teams are officially called the "special forces" in honor of Frank Denius, how can they not be awesome. Time to figure out what has changed and how to fix it.
