ATTN: The Media, You've Got It All Wrong

I can see exactly where this road is headed, and I don't like it one bit. Sure, Mack didn't offer a scholarship to Mizzou's now fantastic QB Chase Daniel(no 's'), but that doesn't mean MU is the wonderful protagonists of this fairytale you are all spinning that ends with them getting sweet sweet revenge on big mean Texas. So please stop it right now.

This is still our fairytale, goddammit. I mean come on, our quarterback's name is Colt McCoy! That sounds made up! We have a true freshman starting at safety. AND HE'S WHITE! We have half a dozen players who's parents were born in Africa and moved here penniless. Our current starting running back is a fifth year senior who has patiently waited for his time in the spotlight and never complained along the way. We have a star receiver who has battled through several season ending injuries. Any one of those feel good stories will do.

Fine, I'll give you the fact that Chase Daniel is short and good at football (puh-lease he's 6', that's pretty tall in regular human world). But don't forget, he has a mohawk. When has a poster child for a Lifetime Channel-esque story ever had a mohawk? The lack of an 's' at the end of his last name also makes it pretty awkward to say, definitely not storybook material (Rumple Stiltskin would be disgusted). Plus, I don't think I've ever seen him smile. Ever. If you insist on doing one of these "little guy seeks redemption versus bully" stories, go take a look at KU's QB Todd Reesing. He's 5'11 and from Austin! Kansas happens to be playing OU this weekend, who we all know only actively recruits players from Texas. OU spurned tiny Todd Reesing, he seeks redemption! Sic 'em media, sic 'em!
