Longhorn Christmas

It's here, it's finally here! Ask anyone who follows the University of Texas football team what single weekend they are most anxious about this season, and they will almost invariably admit that OU weekend has been circled on their calendar for quite a while. A few will mention the upcoming match-ups against Mizzou, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Kansas, but none will disagree that this is a phenomenal time to be a Longhorn fan. I feel like this weekend is Christmas, except that big crimson Santa is looking to rip you out of bed, drag you by your hair into the front yard, beat the burnt orange eggnog out of you, and leave you to stumble embarrassed through the last days of Christmas and all the awkward encounters with your Big 12 relatives. On the other hand, if you manage beat Santa's ass for waking you up, you get to keep his sack of presents. The real question is how to handle this week so that you don't end up too tired when Santa shows up, but also prepared enough to make it a good fight. Whills over at Burnt Orange Nation sums it up perfectly here. From the post:

Sometimes in this life the greatest opportunity happens to occur within the context of our greatest threats, in the midst of our most powerful fears, where our basic human dignity and integrity are threatened, and our whole concept of who and what we are in this world is challenged.

OU this weekend is such a situation.

That makes me want to drive up to the North Pole with a group of my buddies and beat the capital F out of Santa. Regardless, OU still sucks.
